I am not your average teenager going to see this movie. Yet I do not qualify as a Twilight Mom, either. I am, however, a 34 year old mother of four who happens to enjoy the books for what they're worth.
Opening day, my fiancé and I went to see the movie at a 1 o'clock showing, thinking that kids would be in school and we wouldn't have to put up with too much giggling and such. Wrong. An entire English class full of middle school students arrived on a field trip to view Twilight.
From what I saw of the movie, it wasn't that bad. I had to put up with giggling and twittering the entire time, and I missed much of the token dialog.
I will say that the chemistry between the two leads is incredible, and you can palpate the tension between them throughout the movie. Hardwicke was spot on in casting Pattinson and Stewart for these roles. You don't really see enough of the characters of Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie or Emmett to make a comment on them. But Alice is most definitely Alice, and the actor chosen for Jasper hits his character on target. Can't wait to see more of them in another film. Taylor Lautner does a good job of a starstruck Jacob, and I look forward to seeing him more in New Moon.
The only thing I would change, if I could, besides the theater full of noisy teens who giggled every time that Edward appeared would be to flesh out the vampires a bit more. I know that they're dealing with limited screen time in the first place, but so much of this film ended up on the editing floor that it detracts from the experience.
Now, when I go see it again, I'll let you know whether it was as good or as bad as some people say it was. Right now, I'm riding the fence.

Aro fearing for his life lol.
